Description

The AIS650 is Raymarine's established Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) transceiver. It transmits your vessel's identity, position, course and speed to surrounding ships and shore stations, while two receivers monitor both AIS channels so you can see other traffic on your chartplotter.

The AIS650 includes an internal 50-channel GPS receiver for position and timing, with a nominal time to first fix of 36 seconds. It connects to Raymarine systems over SeaTalkng and offers NMEA 0183 high and low speed ports, a USB output and an AIS silent switch input for occasions when you want to receive without transmitting.

The AIS650 needs its own VHF antenna; alternatively an active antenna splitter such as the AIS100 lets it share an existing VHF antenna with a fixed VHF radio. Receiver sensitivity of -107 dBm gives reliable detection of nearby vessels.

Does the AIS650 transmit my position?
Yes. The AIS650 is a Class B transceiver. It transmits your vessel's name, position, course and speed and also receives the positions of other AIS-equipped vessels for display on your chartplotter.
Does the AIS650 need a separate VHF antenna?
Yes, the AIS650 requires a dedicated VHF antenna for AIS. Alternatively an active antenna splitter such as the Raymarine AIS100 allows the AIS650 to share an existing VHF antenna with a fixed VHF radio.
Does the AIS650 have a built-in GPS?
Yes. The AIS650 contains an internal 50-channel GPS receiver with a nominal time to first fix of 36 seconds, providing the position and timing AIS requires. A GPS antenna connects via the TNC connector.
How does the AIS650 connect to a Raymarine display?
The AIS650 connects over SeaTalkng, and also offers NMEA 0183 high speed and low speed ports plus a USB output, so it can be integrated with Raymarine multifunction displays and other instruments.
