Description

The Raymarine P79 is an adjustable in-hull depth transducer ideal for trailered boats or anyone who wants to minimise drag. It installs inside the boat, transmitting and receiving echoes through the solid fibreglass bottom with no hull protrusion whatsoever. An innovative flange bonds to the inside of the hull with quick-setting marine epoxy and is aligned using built-in markings to match the boat's deadrise; once liquid-tight it is filled with non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze and the active transducer cap is dialled in for a straight-down beam.

This dual-frequency version operates at 50 and 200 kHz for fishfinder use and is fitted with a Raymarine 8-pin DSM-style connector that is directly compatible with the CP370 sonar module and legacy CP300, DSM300, DSM30 and DSM250 modules. The P79 accommodates deadrise angles from 2 to 22 degrees and suits solid fibreglass hulls up to 5/8 inch thick (or aluminium under 3.8 mm). Being an in-hull transducer it does not include a water-temperature sensor.

Does the P79 require a hole in the hull?
No. The P79 is an in-hull transducer that bonds to the inside of a solid fibreglass hull and reads through it, so there is no hull penetration and no external drag.
What deadrise angles does it support?
The adjustable flange accommodates a wide range of deadrise angles from 2 to 22 degrees, and is dialled in during installation for a straight-down beam.
What hulls is it suitable for?
Solid fibreglass hulls up to 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick, or aluminium hulls under 3.8 mm. It is not recommended for cored hulls. As an in-hull design it has no water-temperature sensor.
