If battery loads are relatively small and the engine runs frequently, the internal regulator may be all that is required; vessels with larger deep-cycle banks or a lighter engine duty cycle can add a Balmar ARS-5 or Max Charge multi-stage external regulator for fully programmable, battery-specific charging.
