Description
The Victron Battery Combining Diode 80A guarantees continuous DC power to mission-critical equipment, such as an electronic engine control system. It combines two or more DC power sources in parallel to feed a single critical load, so if one source fails the other keeps power flowing without interruption.
Inside are two Schottky diodes, each allowing current to pass only from its own battery input to the shared, combined output. This blocks any reverse flow between the two sources while introducing only a low voltage drop, approximately 0.3 V at light load and about 0.45 V at the rated output. The unit adjusts automatically to 12 V or 24 V systems.
Note that the diodes run hot in use, so the combiner must be mounted on a non-flammable surface. Its compact steel enclosure and M6 bolt terminals suit marine and vehicle installations where redundant DC supply to essential electronics is required.
