Description
The Victron Argo Diode Battery Isolator 80A (Schottky) charges two independent battery banks from a single alternator or charger while keeping them fully isolated. Discharging one bank, such as a domestic service battery, cannot flatten the other, so the engine start battery stays protected and ready to crank.
This version uses low-drop Schottky diodes for isolation, giving a forward voltage drop of roughly 0.3 V at light load and about 0.45 V at the rated output. A fitted compensation diode allows the alternator output voltage to be raised slightly to offset the diode drop. It is the base 80A model without an alternator energize input, suiting installations whose alternator does not need external B+ excitation.
The isolator adjusts automatically to 12 V or 24 V systems and needs no control wiring or maintenance. Its compact steel enclosure suits marine, motorhome and off-grid setups where two banks share one charge source.
