Description

The Victron Cyrix-ct Battery Combiner Kit is a complete fit and forget solution for adding a second or third battery to a boat, car or motorhome. At its heart is the Cyrix-ct 12/24-120 intelligent battery combiner, a microprocessor controlled relay that automatically parallels the batteries for charging from the engine or a charger, then isolates the starter battery once charging stops so it is always ready to start the engine.

The kit is supplied with everything needed for a simple installation, including six metres of red 10 mm2 cable, black cable for the negative, an assembled start assist lead, and a set of M6 and M8 lugs and cable ties. There is no need to cut into existing factory wiring. The Cyrix is rated at 120 A continuous and suits alternators up to 150 A.

Bidirectional voltage sensing means it engages whether the charge source is on the starter side or the accessory side, and intelligent trend detection prevents unwanted on/off cycling. The unit auto ranges between 12 V and 24 V and includes a Start Assist input so the batteries can be paralleled manually in an emergency.

What is included in the kit?
The kit contains the Cyrix-ct 12/24-120 combiner, a 6 m length of red 10 mm2 cable, a 0.5 m black 10 mm2 cable, a 0.2 m black 1.5 mm2 start assist lead assembly with an M8 lug and fast on terminal, two M8 lugs, four M6 lugs and four 150 mm cable ties.
What size alternator can it handle?
The kit is rated for a maximum alternator output of 150 A, with the combiner carrying up to 120 A continuous. Fuses should be sized to the cable used and must not exceed 120 A.
Do I need to modify my existing wiring?
No. The kit is designed for a fit and forget installation and does not require you to cut into any factory wiring that might affect your boat or vehicle manufacturer warranty.
Does it work on both 12 V and 24 V systems?
Yes. The Cyrix automatically detects whether it is fitted to a 12 V or a 24 V system with a common negative, so no manual configuration is needed.
What is the Start Assist function for?
An optional emergency start push button can be wired to the start assist connection. Pressing it engages the relay for 30 seconds so you can parallel the batteries to start the engine if the starter battery is flat.
