Description

The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Pro is an affordable pulse width modulation (PWM) solar charge controller for 12V and 24V systems. It automatically detects the system voltage on first connection and regulates solar charging through a fully programmable three stage algorithm, keeping flooded, GEL or AGM batteries in good health on boats, campervans and off-grid installations.

This 20A model suits a larger panel or a modest multi-panel array. A load output with adjustable low voltage disconnect protects the battery from deep discharge, while the programmable lighting control function makes automatic dusk-to-dawn lighting simple.

Every parameter can be adjusted from a computer using the free Victron software or through the dedicated BlueSolar Pro remote panel, and an optional external temperature sensor improves charge accuracy in changing temperatures.

What is the difference between a PWM and an MPPT controller?
A PWM controller connects the panel more or less directly to the battery, which is simple and economical but works best when the panel voltage closely matches the battery voltage. An MPPT controller actively converts excess panel voltage into extra charge current and typically harvests more energy, especially in cold or low-light conditions. For small 12V or 24V systems on a budget, the BlueSolar PWM-Pro is a cost-effective choice.
Does it work with both 12V and 24V batteries?
Yes. The controller detects the system voltage automatically the first time it is connected and configures itself for 12V or 24V operation.
What size solar panel can I use?
For a 12V battery use a 36 cell solar panel, and for a 24V battery use a 72 cell panel. The maximum solar voltage is 28V on a 12V system and 55V on a 24V system.
Can I connect loads directly to the controller?
Yes. The load output has an adjustable low voltage disconnect that protects the battery from deep discharge, and it can also be programmed for automatic lighting control.
Can I add a temperature sensor?
Yes. An optional external battery temperature sensor (article SCC940100100) improves charge accuracy by applying temperature compensation.
