Description

The Victron Cyrix-Li-charge 12/24-120 is a microprocessor controlled charge relay for lithium systems, fitted between a battery charger and a Victron LiFePO4 battery. It allows charging only when the Victron VE.Bus BMS permits it, and disconnects the charger the instant the BMS signals a cell over voltage or over temperature, protecting the lithium cells.

Rated at 120 A continuous, it connects the charger with a three second delay when the BMS charge disconnect output is high, when it senses 13.0 V (26.0 V on 24 V, 52.0 V on 48 V) or more on the charger terminal, and when it detects at least 2 V on the battery terminal. Once engaged it briefly opens after an hour to re check that the charger is still enabled, and it reconnects automatically when the charger voltage returns.

The Cyrix-Li-charge is used where a charging source cannot be controlled directly by the BMS, such as a mains charger, alternator or solar charger. It is intended for 12 V and 24 V systems and must be used with a Victron VE.Bus BMS (or miniBMS) and Victron lithium batteries.

What does the Cyrix-Li-charge do?
It is a charge relay fitted between a charging source and a Victron LiFePO4 battery. It only allows charging when the VE.Bus BMS permits, and disconnects the charger the moment the BMS signals a cell over voltage or over temperature.
When does it connect the charger?
It connects with a three second delay when the BMS charge disconnect output is high, it senses 13.0 V (26.0 V on a 24 V system) or more on the charger terminal, and it senses at least 2 V on the battery terminal.
Why does it briefly disconnect after an hour?
When engaged, the relay opens after one hour to re check whether the charger is still enabled. If the charger voltage immediately returns to 13.0 V or more, the relay reengages after a three second delay.
When should I use a Cyrix-Li-charge instead of a Cyrix-Li-ct?
Use the Cyrix-Li-charge to control a charging source that the BMS cannot switch directly, such as a mains charger, alternator or solar charger. The Cyrix-Li-ct is used to combine a starter battery with the lithium battery.
Does it need a BMS?
Yes. It must be used with a Victron VE.Bus BMS (or miniBMS) and Victron LiFePO4 batteries.
