Description

The Victron Cyrix-Li-load 12/24-120 is a microprocessor controlled load relay for lithium systems, fitted between a Victron LiFePO4 battery and a load. Under the control of a Victron VE.Bus BMS it disconnects the load before the lithium cells can be driven into a damaging under voltage condition, then reconnects automatically once the battery has recovered.

Rated at 120 A continuous, it disengages the moment its control input becomes free floating, which the BMS does on an imminent cell under voltage. If the battery voltage then recovers, the relay reengages after 30 seconds. After three attempts it stays open until the battery voltage has risen above 13 V (26 V on 24 V, 52 V on 48 V) for at least 30 seconds, confirming the battery is truly being recharged.

The Cyrix-Li-load is used where a load cannot be switched directly by the BMS. It is intended for 12 V and 24 V systems and must be used with a Victron VE.Bus BMS (or miniBMS) and Victron lithium batteries. A BatteryProtect is an alternative where very low standby consumption is required.

What does the Cyrix-Li-load do?
It is a load relay fitted between a Victron LiFePO4 battery and a load. Under BMS control it disconnects the load before the lithium cells can reach a damaging under voltage, then reconnects once the battery has recovered.
When does it reconnect the load?
If the battery voltage recovers after disconnecting, the relay reengages after 30 seconds. After three attempts it remains open until the battery voltage has risen above 13 V (26 V on a 24 V system) for at least 30 seconds, confirming the battery is being recharged.
When should I use a Cyrix-Li-load instead of a BatteryProtect?
Both can disconnect a load to protect a lithium battery. The Cyrix-Li-load is a heavy duty relay suited to high currents, while a BatteryProtect has the advantage of very low standby power consumption.
When should I use a Cyrix-Li-load instead of a Cyrix-Li-charge?
Use the Cyrix-Li-load to switch a load and protect against cell under voltage. Use the Cyrix-Li-charge to switch a charging source and protect against cell over voltage or over temperature.
Does it need a BMS?
Yes. It must be used with a Victron VE.Bus BMS (or miniBMS) and Victron LiFePO4 batteries.
