Description

This XD Flex 2 unit is a two-pole, dual-circuit intelligent relay that switches both the positive and the ground lead of each circuit, meeting aluminium-hull and US Coast Guard safety requirements for isolated switching of both conductors. It is built for multi-voltage, multi-chemistry installations, handling 12 V and 24 V switching in a single compact device, and the bi-stable solenoid design carries 500 A continuously and up to 1,500 A cranking while drawing only 1.3 mA in the off state. Remote on, off and auto inputs allow the relay to be forced closed or open, or left to operate automatically on voltage sensing.

Each relay has its own three-position manual override knob to force the relay open or closed and lock it, with a front-facing LED reporting status and an optional remote LED replicating it. Behaviour is tailored through the DIP switches under the protective cover, covering the low-voltage off set-point, delay-off time and the voltage differential used for a warning signal. The case is sealed to IP67 and IP6K9K with an integrated Gore-Tex vent and stainless steel studs, a 40-circuit waterproof label sheet and terminal cover are included, and the unit can be linked to further XD relays with the 8790 and 8791 busbars.

Why does this relay switch both positive and ground?
Two-pole switching isolates both the positive and the ground lead, which meets aluminium-hull and US Coast Guard safety requirements where both conductors must be broken for proper isolation.
Can it work with both 12 V and 24 V systems?
Yes. It offers multi-voltage capability with 12 V and 24 V switching in a single device, suiting multi-voltage and mixed battery-chemistry installations.
What can be configured with the DIP switches?
The DIP switches under the cover set the low-voltage off set-point, the delay-off time and the voltage differential used for a warning signal, giving flexible control for OEMs and installers.
How is the relay controlled remotely?
Remote on, off and auto inputs let you force the relays closed or open, or leave them to operate automatically based on voltage sensing.
