Description

This hermetically sealed 500A contactor provides reliable remote switching of high-current engine and auxiliary loads, sealing out dust and moisture for dependable operation in harsh marine and mobile environments. By replacing manual switches mounted close to the battery, it eliminates long, heavy cable runs, reducing both installation cost and weight. A high contact voltage rating allows the unit to be controlled from a 12 or 24 Vdc signal while switching higher voltages up to 48V and beyond, and ignition protection to ISO-8846 and UL 1500 makes it safe to install inside closed compartments where explosive gases may be present.

Built for the engine compartment, the contactor uses high-temperature materials throughout and is secured with 18-8 stainless steel self-locking hardware and reinforced mounting holes for a secure, straightforward installation. Unlike the standard model, this version adds auxiliary contacts that give positive confirmation of the relay on or off state, supporting remote status indication so the system always knows whether the load is live. The result is a bullet-proof switching solution that combines high interrupt capability with the durability demanded by continuous engine-compartment use.

Can this contactor be used on both 12V and 24V systems?
Yes. It accepts a wide control voltage range of 9 to 36 V DC, so the same unit can be triggered from either a 12V or a 24V control circuit while switching higher voltages up to 48V and beyond.
What do the auxiliary contacts do?
The auxiliary contacts provide positive confirmation of whether the relay is on or off. They support remote status indication, so your system or panel can show whether the switched load is actually live.
Is it safe to mount inside an engine compartment?
Yes. The contactor is hermetically sealed against dust and moisture, built from high-temperature materials, and is ignition protected to ISO-8846 and UL 1500, making it safe to install in closed compartments where explosive gases may be present.
How much current can it safely interrupt?
The contactor has a maximum interrupt current of 1,500 A at 14 Vdc, allowing it to safely break very high fault and locked-rotor currents during heavy engine or auxiliary load switching.
