Description
The XD Flex L is a single-circuit automatic charging relay built specifically for lithium battery systems, where the higher charge and discharge voltage set-points demanded by lithium chemistries fall outside the range of a standard voltage-sensitive relay. It shares the XD platform's bi-stable solenoid design, switching 500 A continuously and up to 1,500 A cranking while drawing only 1.3 mA in the off state, so it isolates and combines battery banks automatically without the parasitic load of legacy combining relays. A front-facing LED reports relay status at a glance and is replicated on the optional remote LED.
Operation is reassuringly hands-on thanks to the three-position manual override knob, which lets you force the relay open or closed and lock it in either condition, with the knob position making the current state unambiguous. The unit is sealed to IP67 and IP6K9K with high-temperature electronics, an integrated Gore-Tex vent and stainless steel studs, so it can be mounted almost anywhere on board. Connection is through a sealed 6-position DTM/ATM plug that is pin-for-pin compatible with legacy ML Series bi-stable relays, and the device can be expanded with 8790 and 8791 link bars to build two and three battery systems.
