Description

The EGIS 8510-1300 is a single-circuit XD Series Flex L relay that can be programmed as a voltage sensing relay or automatic charging relay, with thresholds tuned for lithium battery chemistries that require higher charge and discharge voltage settings. Built on the XD bi-stable solenoid platform, it delivers 500A continuous current and up to 1500A cranking in a footprint far smaller than conventional solutions, combining and isolating battery banks automatically while drawing only 1.3mA in its off state, around 90-95% less than comparable multi-device systems.

A front-facing 3-position manual override knob lets the relay be forced open or closed and locked in either state, with a clearly visible front LED and a remote LED that mirrors it for status at a glance. The sealed enclosure is rated to IP67/IP6K9K with an integrated Gore-Tex vent that regulates internal pressure for long life in harsh environments, while stainless-steel studs and self-locking flanged nuts accept 1/4-20 or M6 hardware. Functions are configured via dip switches under the included protective cover, and the unit terminates in flying tinned wire leads. A weatherproof 40-circuit label sheet and the protective terminal cover are supplied.

What makes the Flex L suitable for lithium batteries?
The Flex L variant is configured with higher available charge and discharge voltage thresholds than legacy relays, matching the requirements of modern lithium battery chemistries. It can be programmed as a voltage sensing relay or automatic charging relay to suit the system.
How does the manual override knob work?
The front-facing 3-position knob lets you force the relay open or closed and optionally leave it locked in either position. Its position clearly shows whether the relay has been manually set on or off, which competitive solenoid solutions typically do not offer.
What is the off-state current draw?
Thanks to its bi-stable solenoid design, the off-state draw is just 1.3mA, around 90-95% less than competitive products that need multiple devices for similar functionality, so it will not deplete batteries during stand-by.
Can it be expanded for larger battery systems?
Yes. Single, dual and triple XD relays can be linked using the optional 8790 link and 8791 crossover busbars to build 2 or 3 battery system solutions without separate cable interconnects.
