Description

The EGIS 8710-1100 is a single-circuit XD Series Flex 1 relay that can be configured as a simple relay, an automatic charging relay (ACR) or a low voltage disconnect (LVD), giving installers one multi-mode device for a wide range of dual-battery and load-control tasks. Built on the XD bi-stable solenoid platform, it delivers 500A continuous current and up to 1500A cranking in a package far smaller than conventional solutions. As an ACR it shares charging across two batteries and isolates them when no charge source is present, and it supports two independent start or engine isolation inputs for multi-engine or independent charge systems.

A front-facing 3-position manual override knob lets the relay be forced open or closed and locked in either state, with a clear front LED and a remote LED that mirrors it. The sealed enclosure is rated to IP67/IP6K9K with an integrated Gore-Tex vent that regulates internal pressure for long life in harsh environments, while stainless-steel studs with self-locking flanged nuts accept 1/4-20 or M6 hardware. Functions are configured via dip switches under the included protective cover, off-state draw is just 1.3mA, and the unit terminates in flying tinned wire leads. It can be expanded with optional 8790 link and 8791 crossover busbars.

What modes can the Flex 1 be configured for?
The 8710-1100 is a multi-mode single relay that can be set up as a simple relay, an automatic charging relay (ACR), or a low voltage disconnect (LVD), selected via the dip switches, so one device covers several common dual-battery and load-control roles.
How does it work as an ACR?
As an automatic charging relay it shares charge across two batteries when a charge source is present and isolates them when none is, preventing dead start batteries. It also supports two independent start or engine isolation inputs for multi-engine or independent charge systems.
How does the manual override knob work?
The front-facing 3-position knob lets you force the relay open or closed and optionally leave it locked in either position, with the knob position clearly showing whether the relay has been manually set on or off.
What is the off-state current draw?
Thanks to its bi-stable solenoid design, the off-state draw is just 1.3mA, around 90-95% less than competitive products that need multiple devices for similar functionality.
