Description

The Victron Energy Meter EM24 is a three-phase DIN-rail meter used to measure the power and energy of an entire installation, typically at the distribution board of an Energy Storage System (ESS) to minimise energy import from, or export to, the grid. It can equally measure the output of a PV inverter, an AC generator, or a dedicated AC load circuit.

The EM24 connects to a Victron GX device, such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, over a wired Ethernet connection to the local network, so no RS485 wiring run is needed where an Ethernet network already reaches the distribution board. Once connected it is assigned one of four roles in the GX device (grid meter, PV inverter, generator or AC load), and its live data appears on the GX display and the VRM Portal.

The meter connects directly to circuits up to 65 A per phase and carries a built-in LCD with a front joystick for local read-out and configuration. It is a genuine three-phase meter, so a single unit replaces the guesswork of trying to combine several single-phase meters. Built for Victron by Carlo Gavazzi, it is covered by Victron's standard five-year warranty.

How does the EM24 connect to my Victron system?
The EM24 connects over a wired Ethernet connection to your local network, and the GX device (such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) reads it from that network. This avoids running a dedicated RS485 cable between the distribution board and the storage system where an Ethernet network is already available.
What can the EM24 be used to measure?
It can be assigned one of four roles in the GX device: a grid meter (for ESS control), a PV inverter output meter, an AC generator output meter, or a meter for a dedicated AC load circuit.
Does the EM24 need current transformers?
No. The EM24 connects directly to circuits up to 65 A per phase, so no external current transformers are required. For currents above 65 A per phase you would use a current-transformer based meter such as the Victron VM-3P75CT.
Can I use three single-phase meters instead of one EM24?
No. To measure a three-phase system you must use a genuine three-phase meter such as the EM24. The EM24 does, however, measure a single-phase PV inverter connected to one phase of the three-phase input.
Does the EM24 have a display?
Yes. Unlike the ET-series meters, the EM24 has a built-in LCD with a front joystick, so you can read measured values and configure the meter locally as well as through the GX device.
Where does the EM24 mount?
It is a four-module wide unit that clips onto a standard DIN rail inside a distribution board or enclosure.
