Because the small galvanic potential difference between dissimilar metals sits below this threshold, the isolator blocks the resulting stray DC and stops the corrosion current, while still allowing a genuine AC earth-fault current to pass so the residual-current device can trip and keep the installation safe.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe VDI-32 is rated for a continuous current of 32 A and is fitted directly behind the boat's 115\/230 V shore connection, in the green safety-earth conductor ahead of every other ground connection on the vessel.
