Description

The Mastervolt Charge Mate 1202 is a voltage-sensing split charge relay for boats and vehicles with a second battery. It connects the start and service batteries together while the engine or charger is running, so both batteries are charged, then automatically isolates them when discharging so the domestic loads cannot flatten the engine start battery.

Compact and easy to fit, the Charge Mate 1202 is especially practical for smaller systems. It works automatically on 12 V or 24 V installations and handles a maximum current of 120 A. The relay closes once the source voltage rises above the switch-on threshold and opens again when the voltage falls, requiring no manual operation.

What does the Charge Mate 1202 do?
It is a voltage-sensing split charge relay. It connects the start and service batteries together while the engine or charger is running so both charge, and isolates them when discharging so the domestic loads cannot flatten the start battery.
Is it automatic?
Yes. The relay closes when the source voltage rises above the switch-on threshold (13-15 V on 12 V systems) and opens when the voltage falls, with no manual operation needed.
What voltage and current does it handle?
It works automatically on 12 V or 24 V systems and handles a maximum current of 120 A.
What type of switching does it use?
It uses an electro-mechanical relay, with a 5 second switch-on delay to avoid combining the batteries during brief voltage peaks.
Is it suitable for large installations?
The Charge Mate 1202 is especially practical for small systems. For larger systems or higher currents, the Charge Mate 2502 or Charge Mate Pro range may be more suitable.
