Description

The Mass GI 3.5 provides a galvanic electrical isolation between shore power and the on board power, preventing electrical corrosion of metal parts while keeping the vessel earthed. It is a safe connection between vessel and shore installation and an essential part of any onboard electrical system.

Built with the latest high-frequency switching technology, the Mass GI 3.5 is 75% lighter and 60% smaller than low-frequency transformers. An integrated Soft Start handles peak loads when connecting to the grid, while LED lights on the casing indicate load and overload. The unit can be remote controlled and is MasterBus compatible.

Its robust aluminium casing allows fitting in any position on wall or floor. No rubber mountings are necessary because the unit does not vibrate or hum, and professional connections with strain relief cable glands ensure a reliable installation. Units can be parallel coupled for higher capacity: two 16 A/3.5 kW units give 32 A/7 kW, and four units give 64 A/14 kW.

What does an isolation transformer do?
It creates a galvanic electrical isolation between shore power and the onboard power. This prevents electrical (stray-current) corrosion of metal parts while keeping the vessel earthed, providing a safe connection between vessel and shore installation.
How much power does the Mass GI 3.5 deliver?
It delivers 3500 VA at 230 V (1920 VA at 120 V), with a nominal input current of 16 A at 230 V.
Can I increase the capacity?
Yes. Mass GI units can be parallel coupled. Two 16 A/3.5 kW units give 32 A/7 kW, and four units give 64 A/14 kW.
Why is the Mass GI lighter than a conventional transformer?
It uses high-frequency switching technology rather than a low-frequency core, making it 75% lighter and 60% smaller than low-frequency transformers.
Does it need special mounting?
No. The robust aluminium casing can be fitted in any position on wall or floor, and no rubber mountings are necessary because the unit does not vibrate or hum.
