Description

The Mass GI 7 is a 7000 VA (32 A) galvanic isolation transformer that creates a safe, fully isolated connection between your vessel and the shore supply. By galvanically separating the shore earth from the onboard system, it prevents electrolytic (stray-current) corrosion of underwater metal parts while keeping the installation safely earthed.

It uses Mastervolt's high-frequency switching technology, making it around 75% lighter and 60% smaller than a conventional low-frequency transformer. An integrated Soft Start handles inrush peaks when connecting to the grid, and LED indicators on the casing show load and overload status. The unit accepts a wide 90 to 255 V input across 45 to 65 Hz, so it works on shore supplies worldwide.

The robust aluminium case can be mounted in any position on a wall or floor without rubber mounts, as the unit does not hum or vibrate. For higher capacity, units can be coupled in parallel: two 16 A/3.5 kW units give 32 A/7 kW and four units give 64 A/14 kW. The Mass GI 7 is MasterBus compatible and can be remote controlled.

What does an isolation transformer do?
It provides full galvanic isolation between the shore supply and your onboard electrical system. This prevents electrolytic (stray-current) corrosion of underwater metal parts caused by shore earth currents, while still keeping the boat safely earthed.
What is the power rating of the Mass GI 7?
It is rated at 7000 VA at 230 V (3840 VA at 120 V), with a nominal input current of 32 A at 230 V.
Can I use it on different shore supplies?
Yes. It accepts a wide input range of 90 to 255 V and 45 to 65 Hz, so it works on shore supplies worldwide.
Can two units be combined for more power?
Yes. Units can be coupled in parallel to increase capacity. Two 16 A/3.5 kW units give 32 A/7 kW and four units give 64 A/14 kW.
Is it lighter than a traditional transformer?
Yes. Thanks to its high-frequency switching technology it is around 75% lighter and 60% smaller than a conventional low-frequency transformer.
