Description

The Victron Cyrix-i 24/48-400 is a heavy duty intelligent battery combiner for higher voltage systems, a microprocessor controlled relay that automatically parallels two batteries for charging and isolates them again when charging stops. It is an ideal, low loss replacement for a diode split charge isolator, so alternator and charger output voltages do not need to be raised.

Rated at 400 A continuous with a 2000 A one second peak, it is built for large 24 V and 48 V marine, off grid and vehicle systems. Bidirectional voltage sensing lets it engage whether the charge source is on the starter side or the accessory side, and its dual power supply lets it close even when one battery is too flat to power the relay. A bicolour LED and a micro switch for remote monitoring report its state.

Unlike the smaller Cyrix-ct, the Cyrix-i offers four selectable switch timing profiles so its connect and disconnect behaviour can be matched to charging or inverter applications. It auto ranges between 24 V and 48 V, includes a Start Assist input for emergency parallel starting, and uses intelligent trend detection to avoid unwanted on/off cycling.

How does the Cyrix-i decide when to combine the batteries?
It monitors the voltage of both batteries. When it senses a charge voltage with a rising trend it engages to parallel the batteries, and it disconnects again when the voltage falls back below the float level, indicating charging has stopped. The exact thresholds depend on which of the four switch profiles is selected.
What do the four switch profiles do?
The Cyrix-i offers four selectable timing profiles that change its connect and disconnect voltages and delays. This lets you tune its behaviour, for example a slower profile for normal charging or a faster profile suited to inverter loads. The profile is set with a switch under the cover.
Does it work on both 24 V and 48 V systems?
Yes. This 24/48 V model automatically detects whether it is fitted to a 24 V or a 48 V system. For 12 V or 24 V systems, choose the Cyrix-i 12/24-400 instead.
What is the micro switch for remote monitoring?
The unit has a built in micro switch that follows the relay state, so you can wire it to a remote indicator or monitoring system to show whether the batteries are currently combined.
What is the Start Assist function for?
Start Assist lets you parallel the batteries manually using a push button or switch, keeping the relay engaged for 30 seconds. It is useful in an emergency when the starter battery is flat and you want to draw on the domestic battery to start the engine.
