Description

The Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 is a 120 V multifunctional inverter/charger built for professional marine, vehicle and off-grid systems. It combines a powerful 3000 VA pure sine wave inverter and a 120 A battery charger in a single compact enclosure, giving a 12 V battery bank clean 120 VAC mains power wherever it is needed.

Its standout feature is PowerAssist. When shore or generator power runs short, the MultiPlus-II tops up the supply with energy drawn from the battery, preventing nuisance breaker trips while still allowing full battery charging from whatever capacity is spare. The integrated transfer switch hands loads back to the inverter in under 20 milliseconds during a grid failure, so sensitive electronics keep running without interruption.

The MultiPlus-II is designed for energy storage and solar self-consumption, working alongside both MPPT solar chargers and grid-tie inverters, and can be paralleled, split-phased or three-phased for larger installations. With an external current sensor it extends PowerControl and PowerAssist up to 100 A. System setup, monitoring and control are handled through VictronConnect, a GX device and the free VRM portal.

Is this a 120 V or 230 V model?
This is the 120 V version, producing a 120 VAC, 60 Hz output. It suits North American style systems rather than 230 V, 50 Hz markets. If you need 230 V, choose the equivalent MultiPlus-II 230V model instead.
What does PowerAssist do?
PowerAssist compensates for a limited shore or generator supply by adding power from the battery when loads peak. This prevents the source from being overloaded and tripping, while the spare capacity is still used to recharge the battery.
How fast does it switch over during a power failure?
The integrated transfer switch hands the loads to the inverter in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other sensitive electronics keep running without interruption.
Can I run several units together for more power?
Yes. Up to six MultiPlus-II units can be paralleled for higher output, two of the same model can be wired for 240 V split phase, and three can be configured for three phase operation.
Do I need extra hardware to monitor or configure it?
Settings are changed with VictronConnect via an MK3-USB interface or the optional VE.Bus Smart dongle. For full system monitoring and remote access via the free VRM portal, add a GX device such as a Cerbo GX.
Is it suitable for lithium batteries?
Yes. The MultiPlus-II works with lithium, AGM, gel and flooded batteries, and its general purpose communication ports allow integration with managed lithium-ion battery systems.
