Description

The Orion IP67 24/12-100 is a high-power, fully encapsulated 24V to 12V DC-DC converter for harsh and exposed installations. The casing is cast aluminium and the electronics are moulded in resin, making the unit waterproof, shockproof and ignition protected, so water, oil and dirt will not damage it. It supplies a stable 12V output of up to 100A (1200W) from a 24V battery system.

A wide 18 to 35V input range keeps the output stable during the voltage surges and sags caused by other equipment on the same battery, and the converter is protected against overheating for use in hot environments such as a machine room. Heavy current connections are made to M6 bolt terminals. The unit is short-circuit proof, recovers automatically from an overload through hiccup mode, and is protected against reverse polarity with an external fuse or circuit breaker.

The Orion IP67 supplies a fixed output voltage and is intended as a converter rather than a battery charger. It has no charge algorithm and no Bluetooth. For controlled multi-stage battery charging from a DC source, use an Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger instead.

Is the Orion IP67 24/12-100 a battery charger?
No. It is a DC-DC converter that supplies a fixed 12V output and has no multi-stage charge algorithm or Bluetooth. For controlled battery charging from a DC source, use an Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger instead.
What does the IP67 rating mean for this converter?
The unit is fully encapsulated in a cast aluminium housing with the electronics moulded in resin, making it waterproof, shockproof and ignition protected. Water, oil and dirt will not damage it, which suits exposed and harsh installations.
How are the connections made on this model?
The 24/12-100 is a high-power unit rated to 100A and 1200W, so heavy current connections are made directly to M6 bolt terminals rather than fitted cables.
What input voltage can it accept?
It accepts an 18 to 35V DC input. This range keeps the 12V output stable during the surges and sags caused by other equipment connected to the same battery.
Is it protected against overload and short circuit?
Yes. It is short-circuit proof and uses hiccup mode for overload protection, recovering automatically once the fault is removed. Reverse polarity protection requires an external fuse or circuit breaker, which is not included.
