Description
The Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-20 is a non-isolated DC-DC converter that steps a 24V supply down to a regulated 12.5V output, delivering up to 20A (240W continuous). It is intended to power 12V equipment from a 24V system rather than to charge a battery; where controlled battery charging is required, an Orion-Tr Smart charger should be used instead.
Synchronous rectification gives a high full-load efficiency of around 97 percent, keeping heat and input current low. The output remains stable across an 18 to 35V input range, making the converter well suited to running electronics, lighting and other 12V loads on boats, in vehicles and in off-grid installations.
The unit uses screw terminals and installs without special tools, and provides IP43 protection for the electronics when fitted with the terminals facing downwards.
