Description
The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30 (360W) Isolated DC-DC Charger is a galvanically isolated DC-DC charger that charges a 12V service battery from a 24V source such as a vehicle alternator or starter battery. It delivers up to 30 A of continuous charge current and 360 W of continuous output power, and uses an adaptive three-stage charge algorithm (bulk, absorption, float) to charge both lead-acid and lithium batteries correctly.
Galvanic isolation of 200Vdc between input, output and case allows the charger to be used where the input and output grounds must be kept separate, for example to avoid earth loops in steel or aluminium vessels. Engine shutdown detection works with smart alternators by sensing when the engine is running, so the unit does not discharge the starter battery when the alternator is not supplying power. Extensive protection covers overload, short circuit, over-temperature with power derating, and connector over-temperature.
Built-in Bluetooth lets you configure and monitor the charger from the VictronConnect app on a phone or tablet, with a programmable charge algorithm and eight preprogrammed battery presets. The remote on/off connector allows hard-wired or BMS control. Note that this model is a battery charger and is not equipped with a VE.Direct port. Multiple units can be wired in parallel for higher output.
