Description
The Victron Orion-Tr 24/12-5 is a compact non-isolated DC-DC converter that steps a 24V supply down to a regulated 12.7V output, delivering up to 5A (60W continuous). It is intended to run 12V equipment from a 24V system rather than to charge a battery; where controlled battery charging is required, an Orion-Tr Smart charger should be used instead.
Synchronous rectification gives a high full-load efficiency of around 95 percent, which keeps heat and current draw low. The converter holds a stable output across its 18 to 35V input range and is fully protected, making it well suited to powering electronics, lighting and other 12V loads aboard boats, in vehicles and in off-grid installations.
Housed in a small enclosure with screw terminals, the unit installs without special tools and carries IP43 protection for the electronics when mounted with the terminals facing downwards.
