Description
The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 150/70 is a solar charge controller for 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V battery systems, accepting a solar array of up to 150V open-circuit and delivering a rated charge current of 70A. Its ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking locks onto the array's optimum operating point, improving harvest by up to 30 percent against a PWM controller and up to 10 percent against slower MPPT controllers, with a peak conversion efficiency above 98 percent and no cooling fan.
This is the BlueSolar model, the non-Bluetooth version of the SmartSolar range. A VE.Direct communication port lets it be monitored on a GX device such as a Cerbo GX or Color Control GX, or wirelessly through a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle fitted separately. A fully programmable, multi-stage adaptive charge algorithm with eight pre-programmed profiles selectable by rotary switch handles lead-acid and lithium banks alike.
Built for larger installations, it uses screw terminal-clamp connections accepting up to 35 mm2 cable on both PV and battery, an internal temperature sensor for voltage compensation, and comprehensive protection against PV reverse polarity, output short circuit and over-temperature. Parallel operation is supported, making it well suited to marine, off-grid and mobile systems with substantial solar arrays.
