Description

The Victron VM-3P75CT is Victron's own three-phase energy meter, designed to measure the power and energy of single-phase, split-phase and three-phase applications, for example at the distribution board or on the output of a PV inverter, AC generator or inverter/charger. Unlike the rebadged Carlo Gavazzi meters, it is engineered by Victron for native integration with the Victron ecosystem.

It uses supplied clamp-type current transformers to sense current up to 75 A per phase (rated) without modifying existing wiring, and connects to a GX device such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX over VE.Can or Ethernet. The VE.Can connection is a direct link to the GX device that works independently of any network, while Ethernet suits installations where a network already reaches the board. It works out of the box as a grid meter for most systems, with configuration through VictronConnect needed only to change its role or set a fixed IP address.

A high 100 ms refresh rate gives accurate power, grid-import and feed-in figures for ESS systems, and the meter reports a full set of electrical parameters including line-to-neutral and line-to-line voltage, power factor, phase sequence and protective-earth voltages. A configurable energy registration method (vector, arithmetic or absolute) makes it suitable across different regional requirements. It is covered by Victron's standard five-year warranty.

How does the VM-3P75CT connect to my Victron system?
It connects to a GX device such as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX over VE.Can or Ethernet (Modbus UDP). VE.Can is a direct link to the GX device that works independently of any network, while Ethernet suits installations where a network already reaches the distribution board. VE.Can terminators are supplied.
Are the current transformers included?
Yes. The VM-3P75CT ships with clamp-type current transformers (640 mm lead) that snap over the existing conductors, so you do not need to modify the wiring of an existing installation. They sense current up to 75 A per phase.
Does the VM-3P75CT need configuring before use?
For most systems, no. It works out of the box (plug and play) as a grid meter. Configuration through VictronConnect is only needed to change its role (grid meter, PV inverter, AC generator or AC load meter) or to set a fixed IP address instead of the default DHCP.
Can the VM-3P75CT measure a split-phase system?
Yes. In addition to single-phase and three-phase applications, the VM-3P75CT supports split-phase installations, which is why it is often chosen for split-phase systems above 65 A per phase.
What is the advantage of the fast refresh rate?
The VM-3P75CT calculates RMS power for each phase and transmits it every 100 ms. This high rate gives more accurate power usage, grid-import and feed-in measurements, which is particularly useful in an ESS system.
What is the configurable energy registration method?
The meter lets you select between vector, arithmetic or absolute energy registration. Vector registration is preferred in countries such as Germany and Austria, while other regions use arithmetic. This flexibility lets one meter match different regional billing requirements.
