Description

The GX LTE 4G is a cellular modem accessory that gives any Victron GX device its own mobile internet connection. It is the 4G successor to the discontinued GX GSM, adding LTE alongside the existing 2G and 3G technologies so the system stays online in more locations and on newer networks. Once connected, the GX device reports to the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal, allowing you to monitor and configure the installation from anywhere.

A built-in GPS receiver lets the system be tracked and geo-fenced on VRM when the optional active GPS antenna is fitted, which is useful for vessels and other mobile installations. The modem connects to the GX device over a fixed USB cable and is powered directly from the battery bank across a wide voltage range, with a small indoor antenna and a fused DC power cable supplied in the box.

An active SIM card of the Mini-SIM format is required and is not included. The unit provides an internet connection for the GX device only and does not share data with phones, tablets or laptops. For installations that need internet across several devices, a dedicated mobile router is the better choice. This is the GX LTE 4G-E variant for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Korea and Thailand; A and SA variants cover other regions.

Is the GX LTE 4G a replacement for the GX GSM?
Yes. The GX LTE 4G is the 4G successor to the discontinued GX GSM. It supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks and performs the same role, giving a GX device its own mobile internet connection to the VRM portal.
Does the GX LTE 4G include a SIM card?
No. You need to supply your own active SIM card in the regular Mini-SIM format. The unit supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM cards.
How does it connect to my GX device?
It connects to the GX device using the fixed 1.0m USB cable. If all USB sockets are in use, a USB hub can be added. The GX device must be running Venus OS v2.60 or newer.
Can the GX LTE 4G share internet with my phone or laptop?
No. It provides an internet connection for the GX device only and cannot share data with phones, tablets, laptops or other devices. For multi-device internet, use a dedicated mobile router instead.
Do I need an antenna, and which region variant should I choose?
A small indoor LTE antenna is included; the optional Outdoor 4G GSM Antenna (GSM900100400) increases range. This is the GX LTE 4G-E (GSM100100400) for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Korea and Thailand. Choose GX LTE 4G-A (GSM100200400) for North America or GX LTE 4G-SA (GSM100300400) for Australia, New Zealand and South America.
