Description
The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/10000/140-100 combines a powerful sine wave inverter, a high-output battery charger and an automatic AC transfer switch in one rugged enclosure. It delivers a stable 230 VAC output for heavy single-phase loads, while the integrated charger keeps the battery bank topped up whenever shore power or a generator is connected. Transfer between mains and inverter operation is fully automatic and completes in under 20 milliseconds, so sensitive electronics keep running through a grid failure without any interruption.
PowerControl allows you to set a maximum shore or generator current, after which only the spare capacity is used for charging so that a limited source is never overloaded. PowerAssist builds on this by drawing extra power from the battery to cover short, heavy peaks and then recharging once demand falls back. An optional external AC current sensor (50 A or 100 A) extends this capability and helps optimise self-consumption, while the second AC output is ideal for shedding non-critical loads. The unit is ESS ready with built-in anti-islanding for grid-parallel energy storage, and it is set up with VEConfigure through an MK3-USB interface, with full monitoring and remote control through a GX device and the free VRM portal.
Being one of the high-power models, this 10 kVA unit can be paralleled for greater output only when an external AC transfer switch is fitted; the 8 kVA, 10 kVA and 15 kVA models share this requirement so that larger single-phase and three-phase systems stay safely coordinated. A strong steel housing, full protection suite and a wide operating temperature range make it a dependable choice for marine, off-grid and backup power.

How fast does the MultiPlus-II switch to battery power during a grid failure?
The transfer to inverter operation happens in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other electronic equipment continue to operate without disruption.
What do PowerControl and PowerAssist do?
PowerControl lets you set a maximum shore or generator current; the unit then uses only the spare capacity for battery charging to avoid overloading the source. PowerAssist goes further by adding battery power to support the supply during short peaks, then recharges the battery when the load drops.
Can these high-power models be paralleled?
Yes, but the 8 kVA, 10 kVA and 15 kVA models can only be connected in parallel when an external AC transfer switch is used; see the MultiPlus-II External Transfer Switch application manual.
Is an external current sensor required?
No, it is optional. An external AC current sensor (50 A or 100 A) can be added to extend the PowerControl and PowerAssist range and to optimise self-consumption with external current sensing.
Can the MultiPlus-II be monitored remotely?
Yes. When connected to a GX device such as a Cerbo GX, system data can be stored and viewed on the free VRM portal, and settings can be changed remotely over the internet.
