Description

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-50 is a 120 V multifunctional inverter/charger for professional marine, vehicle and off-grid systems built around a 48 V battery bank. It combines a 3000 VA pure sine wave inverter with a 35 A battery charger in one compact enclosure, supplying clean 120 VAC mains power from the batteries. A 48 V architecture keeps DC currents low, which simplifies cabling on larger installations.

PowerAssist is the standout capability. When shore or generator power is limited, the MultiPlus-II adds energy from the battery to cover load peaks, preventing the source from overloading while still using any spare capacity to recharge. The integrated transfer switch returns loads to the inverter in under 20 milliseconds during a grid failure, so sensitive electronics keep running without disruption.

Designed for energy storage and solar self-consumption, the MultiPlus-II works with both MPPT solar chargers and grid-tie inverters and can be paralleled, split-phased or three-phased for higher output. An external current sensor extends PowerControl and PowerAssist up to 100 A. Setup, monitoring and control run through VictronConnect, a GX device and the free VRM portal.

Is this a 120 V or 230 V model?
This is the 120 V version, producing a 120 VAC, 60 Hz output. It suits North American style systems rather than 230 V, 50 Hz markets. If you need 230 V, choose the equivalent MultiPlus-II 230V model instead.
Why choose a 48 V model over 12 V or 24 V?
A 48 V system runs at one quarter of the DC current of a 12 V system for the same power, so cable runs are thinner, voltage drop is lower and connections are simpler. It is the usual choice for larger storage and off-grid installations.
What does PowerAssist do?
PowerAssist compensates for a limited shore or generator supply by adding power from the battery when loads peak. This prevents the source from being overloaded and tripping, while the spare capacity is still used to recharge the battery.
How fast does it switch over during a power failure?
The integrated transfer switch hands the loads to the inverter in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other sensitive electronics keep running without interruption.
Can I run several units together for more power?
Yes. Up to six MultiPlus-II units can be paralleled for higher output, two of the same model can be wired for 240 V split phase, and three can be configured for three phase operation.
Is it suitable for lithium batteries?
Yes. The MultiPlus-II works with lithium, AGM, gel and flooded batteries, and its general purpose communication ports allow integration with managed lithium-ion battery systems.
