Description

The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 is a 48 V multifunctional inverter/charger that unites a pure sine wave inverter, a 35 A battery charger and a high speed 32 A transfer switch within one robust steel housing. The 48 V architecture keeps DC currents low for efficient cabling, making it a natural fit for larger marine, vehicle and off-grid systems as well as grid-tied Energy Storage Systems, where built-in anti-islanding lets it operate safely in parallel with the utility supply. At the heart of the unit are PowerControl and PowerAssist; PowerControl limits the draw from a shore or generator connection so it is never overloaded, while PowerAssist tops up the source with up to 3000 VA of battery power to ride through brief surges. Should the incoming supply drop, changeover to inverter mode completes in under 20 milliseconds, keeping connected equipment running seamlessly, and an optional external AC current sensor (50 A or 100 A) extends the working range when needed. A separate second AC output disconnects non essential loads when the mains is lost, and the design scales readily, with up to six units in parallel or a three phase arrangement for demanding sites. Settings are managed through VEConfigure via an MK3-USB adapter, and pairing the system with a GX device such as a Cerbo GX provides on-site monitoring together with remote access and data logging through the free VRM portal.

How fast does the MultiPlus-II switch to battery power during a grid failure?
The transfer to inverter operation happens in less than 20 milliseconds, so computers and other electronic equipment continue to operate without disruption.
What do PowerControl and PowerAssist do?
PowerControl lets you set a maximum shore or generator current; the unit then uses only the spare capacity for battery charging to avoid overloading the source. PowerAssist goes further by adding battery power to support the supply during short peaks, then recharges the battery when the load drops.
Can the MultiPlus-II be used in parallel or three-phase systems?
Yes. Up to six units can be connected in parallel for higher output, and three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase operation, with up to six sets of three paralleled for larger systems.
Is an external current sensor required?
No, it is optional. An external AC current sensor (50 A or 100 A) can be added to extend the PowerControl and PowerAssist range and to optimise self-consumption with external current sensing.
Can the MultiPlus-II be monitored remotely?
Yes. When connected to a GX device such as a Cerbo GX, system data can be stored and viewed on the free VRM portal, and settings can be changed remotely over the internet.
