Description

The Victron Orion 110/24 is a 110V isolated DC-DC converter rated at 360W, taking a nominal 110V DC input (60 to 140V) and delivering a regulated 24 V output. Galvanic isolation of more than 400V rms is provided between the input, output and case, suiting installations where the input and output grounds must remain separate.

The converter uses temperature-controlled fan-assisted cooling and is housed in an anodised aluminium case. It is short circuit proof and protected against overheating, reverse polarity and over voltage, the latter by a varistor that also guards against load dump. Connections are made with 6.3 mm (0.25 inch) push-on flat blade terminals.

This is a voltage converter rather than a battery charger and has no multi-stage charge algorithm. It is intended for powering DC loads from a 110V DC supply.

Can the Orion 110/24 charge a battery?
No. It is a 110V DC-DC voltage converter with a regulated fixed output, not a battery charger, so it has no multi-stage charge algorithm. It is intended for powering DC loads from a 110V supply.
Is the output isolated from the 110V input?
Yes. The converter provides more than 400V rms galvanic isolation between the input, the output and the case, so the input and output grounds can be kept separate.
What input voltage does it accept?
It is designed for a nominal 110V DC input and operates across a wide range of 60 to 140V.
How is the converter cooled?
It uses temperature-controlled fan-assisted cooling and is built into an anodised aluminium case. After 30 minutes at full load the temperature rise is around 30 degrees C.
What protection does it provide?
It is short circuit proof and protected against overheating (by reducing output voltage), reverse polarity (a fuse and reverse connected diode across the input) and over voltage (a varistor that also protects against load dump).
