Description
Built for the marine and mobile environment, the Skylla-IP65 12/70 (3) is housed in a steel epoxy powder coated case rated to IP65, sealing the electronics against dust, humidity and salt-laden air while standing up to the heat and vibration of life on board. An integrated LCD display shows charging status and lets you adapt the charge algorithm, and the temperature-protected output keeps the charger working reliably as ambient conditions change. This version provides three galvanically isolated outputs, each capable of delivering the full charge current, with a maximum total output of 70 A, so three separate battery banks can be charged from a single unit.\n\nCharging is handled by a 7 stage adaptive algorithm for lead-acid batteries, with BatterySafe and Storage modes that protect the banks and keep them healthy during long periods of inactivity. The supplied battery temperature sensor and battery voltage sense ensure precise, fully compensated charging right at the terminals. A dedicated 3 stage algorithm makes the unit Li-Ion ready, its remote on/off can be wired to a lithium BMS, and the stable, regulated output also allows the charger to be used as a DC power supply.\n\nFor system integration the Skylla-IP65 features VE.Can with two RJ45 connectors using the NMEA2000 protocol, enabling synchronised parallel operation and connection to a Skylla Control panel for centralised monitoring and configuration. A wide 90 to 265 VAC input lets the charger run from shore power or generators on both 120 V and 230 V supplies, while the programmable alarm relay provides flexible signalling within the wider installation.

What does the IP65 rating mean for marine and mobile use?
IP65 means the charger is sealed against dust and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. Housed in a steel epoxy powder coated case, it is built to cope with the heat, humidity and salt-laden air found on boats and in vehicles, making it suitable for demanding marine and mobile installations.
How are the three outputs configured on the Skylla-IP65 12/70 (3)?
This model provides three independent, galvanically isolated outputs, each able to deliver the full charge current, with a maximum total output of 70 A shared across them. It is designed to charge three separate battery banks at once, with no dedicated starter output, making it ideal where multiple isolated banks need their own connection.
What AC input voltages can this charger run on?
The Skylla-IP65 accepts a wide AC input range of 90 to 265 VAC and operates on both 120 V and 230 V nominal supplies at 45 to 65 Hz. This makes it well suited to shore power, generators and varying mains quality found in different regions.
Is the Skylla-IP65 12/70 (3) suitable for lithium batteries?
Yes. The charger has a dedicated 3 stage charge algorithm for Li-Ion batteries alongside its 7 stage adaptive algorithm for lead-acid. Its remote on/off can be connected to a Li-Ion BMS, and the programmable alarm relay and VE.Can communication allow safe integration into a managed lithium system.
Can two Skylla-IP65 chargers be run in parallel?
Yes. Synchronised parallel operation is supported via VE.Can, allowing multiple chargers to work together as one. Note that the three-output (3) and two-output (1+1) versions cannot be paralleled with each other, so units to be combined must be of the same output configuration.
