Description

The Skylla-TG 24/30 is a robust, microprocessor-controlled marine battery charger designed for permanent installation aboard boats and in demanding off-grid systems. It charges 24 V battery banks at up to 30 A from a 230 VAC supply, and its perfectly stabilised output also allows it to be used as a DC power supply where no battery is fitted. Charging follows the IUoUo three-step characteristic, which charges more rapidly than conventional methods while protecting the battery from overcharging. A supplied battery temperature sensor automatically reduces the charge voltage as battery temperature rises, and a voltage-sense facility compensates for cable losses so the battery always receives the correct voltage. A second 4 A output keeps a separate starter battery topped up. Housed in a sea-water-resistant aluminium enclosure finished in Victron blue, the charger is force-cooled and rated to IP21. It can remain connected to the battery indefinitely, making it well suited to long-term and seasonal storage.

How many battery banks can the Skylla-TG 24/30 charge?
It has two isolated outputs. The main output delivers the full 30 A to the house bank, while a second output, limited to approximately 4 A, keeps a separate starter battery topped up.
What charge profile does it use?
The charger follows the IUoUo three-step characteristic (bulk, absorption and float) at 28.5 V absorption and 26.5 V float, with the absorption time selectable between 4, 8 and 12 hours.
Can it be left connected to the battery permanently?
Yes. The charger keeps the battery in optimum condition without overcharging, so it can stay connected during long-term or winter storage.
Does it compensate for battery temperature and cable losses?
Yes. A battery temperature sensor is supplied so charge voltage falls as battery temperature rises, and a voltage-sense facility corrects for cable voltage drop up to 2 V.
Can the Skylla-TG be used as a DC power supply?
Yes. Its stabilised output voltage means it can act as a DC power supply in applications where no battery or only a buffer capacitor is present.
