Description

The Skylla-TG 24/50 is a 24 V charger delivering up to 50 A from a universal input that operates across the full 90-265 VAC range at 50 or 60 Hz without any adjustment. It also accepts a 90-400 V DC supply, making it ideal for vessels that visit regions with differing mains supplies. Charging follows the IUoUo three-step profile of bulk, absorption and float, with temperature compensation and battery voltage sense to protect the bank and keep charging accurate. A separate 4 A output keeps a starter battery topped up alongside the main house output. The charger is approved by Germanischer Lloyd to category C, EMC 1 for equipment installed on the bridge of a ship. It is built into a sea-water-resistant aluminium enclosure, is force-cooled and carries an IP21 rating.

What input voltage does the Skylla-TG 24/50 universal input accept?
It accepts any AC supply from 90 to 265 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and is fully auto-ranging, so no manual adjustment or link change is needed when you move between regions with different mains voltages. It will also run from a 90 to 400 V DC supply.
Is the Skylla-TG 24/50 universal input approved for marine use?
Yes. This model is approved by Germanischer Lloyd to environmental category C, EMC 1 (certificate 54 758 - 08HH), which covers equipment installed on the bridge of a ship.
How many battery outputs does the charger have?
It has two isolated outputs. The main output delivers the full charge current of up to 50 A to the house bank, and a second output supplies up to 4 A to keep a starter battery topped up.
What charge profile does the Skylla-TG 24/50 use?
It uses an IUoUo three-step profile of bulk, absorption and float, with an absorption voltage of 28.5 V and a float voltage of 26.5 V. The absorption time adapts automatically, typically 4, 8 or 12 hours depending on the state of the battery.
Does it compensate for temperature, and can it be used as a power supply?
Yes. A battery temperature sensor is supplied for temperature compensation and battery voltage sense compensates for up to 2 V of cable loss. Because the output is regulated, the unit can also be used as a stabilised DC power supply.
