What battery voltage and charge profile does the 48/25 use?
The Skylla-TG 48/25 charges 48 V battery banks using the IUoUo three-step characteristic, working through bulk, absorption and float stages. The absorption voltage is 57 V and the float voltage is 53 V, with the absorption time selectable at 4, 8 or 12 hours.
Can the charger stay connected to the batteries permanently?
Yes. The charger can remain connected to the batteries at all times, which makes it ideal for keeping a 48 V bank topped up during storage. The float stage maintains the batteries without overcharging them.
How does the charger compensate for temperature and cable losses?
A battery temperature sensor is supplied as standard so the charge voltage can be adjusted for battery temperature. Battery voltage sense additionally compensates for cable voltage loss of up to 2 V, ensuring the batteries receive the correct charge voltage.
Can the Skylla-TG 48/25 be used as a DC power supply?
Yes. In addition to charging batteries, the Skylla-TG 48/25 can be used as a stabilised DC power supply, delivering a regulated 48 V output for connected equipment.
What battery capacity is recommended for the 48/25?
Victron recommends a battery capacity of 125 to 250 Ah for the Skylla-TG 48/25. This range ensures the 25 A charge current is well matched to the size of the battery bank.
