Description

The SmartSolar MPPT 75/10 is Victron's entry-level smart solar charge controller, sized for smaller 12 V and 24 V installations on boats, campers and off-grid systems. It accepts a PV array of up to 75 V open circuit and delivers up to 10 A of charge current, using an ultra-fast tracking algorithm that keeps the panel working at its optimum point even as light levels change. Integrated Bluetooth lets you configure the charger, monitor performance and update firmware directly from a phone or tablet.

A multi-stage adaptive charge algorithm tailors the charge profile to lead-acid or lithium batteries, and the SafetyShield+ protection set guards against PV reverse polarity, short circuits and over-temperature. The load output can power small DC loads while preventing deep discharge, and a VE.Direct port allows the controller to be integrated into a wider Victron monitoring system.

What does the 75/10 designation mean?
The first number is the maximum PV open circuit voltage the controller accepts (75 V) and the second is the maximum charge current it can deliver to the battery (10 A). So the 75/10 takes a solar array up to 75 V and charges at up to 10 A.
Which battery voltages does it support?
The SmartSolar MPPT 75/10 automatically detects and works with 12 V and 24 V battery banks. It supports lead-acid (AGM, gel, flooded) and lithium batteries through its adjustable, multi-stage adaptive charge algorithm.
Do I need extra hardware to set it up?
No. Bluetooth is built in, so you configure and monitor the controller directly from the free VictronConnect app on a phone or tablet. The VE.Direct port is available if you later want to connect it to a GX device or VRM for remote monitoring.
Why does Victron recommend an MPPT over a PWM controller?
Ultra-fast maximum power point tracking keeps the panel operating at its most efficient point, improving energy harvest by up to 30 percent compared with PWM controllers, and by up to 10 percent compared with slower MPPT controllers, especially in changing light conditions.
