The Garmin 599LH is the in-hull version of the high-power 509LH: a 2-3 kW dual-band CHIRP transducer (28-60 and 130-210 kHz) that mounts in a liquid-filled tank inside a solid fibreglass hull and sounds to 10,000 ft. It pairs with the Garmin GSD 26 sonar module.
Description
The Garmin 599LH (Airmar R599LH) is the in-hull version of the high-power 509LH CHIRP transducer. It is suspended in a liquid-filled tank epoxied inside the hull and transmits sonar directly through solid fibreglass, so there is no hole to drill, no drag and no exposure to marine growth. The 25-element broadband array sweeps a 28 to 60 kHz low band and a 130 to 210 kHz high band, giving 112 kHz of total bandwidth from one transducer.
With 2 to 3 kW of dual-range transmit power the low band sounds to 10,000 ft, the deepest in the in-hull CHIRP range, while the high band returns fine detail to 1,500 ft. The in-hull tank suits solid fibreglass hulls only, up to 22 degrees deadrise on the short side and 12 degrees on the long side, and is best suited to deeper water rather than the shallows. The in-hull configuration reads depth only. The transducer terminates in bare wires and requires the Garmin GSD 26 CHIRP sonar module, which connects to networked GPSMAP chartplotters.
