Description
The Victron 12V 106Ah Lead Carbon battery is a sealed lead-acid battery in which the active material of the negative plate is replaced by a lead carbon composite. This reduces sulphation and improves charge acceptance, giving better performance in partial state-of-charge use, more cycles and higher efficiency than a conventional VRLA battery.
Lead carbon is well suited to marine and off-grid systems that are not always returned to a full charge, such as boats at anchor relying on solar or wind. The battery accepts charge at a lower voltage, which improves efficiency and reduces corrosion of the positive plate. Capacity is rated at 106Ah at the 20-hour rate (100Ah at C10, 92Ah at C5).
Victron testing confirms at least 500 cycles at 100% depth of discharge, rising to around 1000 cycles at 60% and 1400 at 40%, so shallower cycling substantially extends service life. Charge with a Victron charger set to the recommended lead carbon voltages.
