Description

The Victron Energy AGM Super Cycle is a 12V 15Ah valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery built for cyclic use. Improved positive-plate paste and electrolyte additives make the cells far more tolerant of deep discharge, so the battery withstands repeated heavy cycling that would quickly damage a conventional AGM.

Victron recommends the Super Cycle range for applications where an occasional discharge to 100% depth of discharge, or frequent discharge to 60-80% DoD, is expected. The chemistry also gives a slightly smaller, lighter case and lower internal resistance than Victron's standard deep-cycle AGM batteries.

As a sealed, maintenance-free AGM, it can be mounted in most orientations and needs no topping up, making it a practical house or service battery for smaller marine and leisure installations.

How is the Super Cycle different from a standard AGM battery?
The positive-plate paste is less sensitive to softening and the electrolyte has additives that reduce sulfation, so the battery tolerates repeated deep discharge much better than a standard AGM. Victron quotes at least 300 cycles at 100% depth of discharge.
How deeply can I discharge this battery?
Victron recommends the Super Cycle for applications with an occasional discharge to 100% depth of discharge, or frequent discharge to 60-80% DoD. Cycle life is about 700 cycles at 60% DoD and about 1000 cycles at 40% DoD.
What charge voltages should I use?
For normal cycle service Victron specifies an absorption voltage of 14.2 to 14.6 V and a float voltage of 13.5 to 13.8 V, with a storage voltage of 13.2 to 13.5 V. Temperature compensation of -24 mV/°C is recommended for a 12V battery.
What is the rated capacity?
This model is rated 15Ah at the 20-hour discharge rate to 10.8 V. At the shorter rates it gives 14Ah at C10 and 13Ah at C5.
Does it need temperature compensation?
Yes. Charge voltage should be reduced as temperature rises. Victron requires temperature compensation when the battery is regularly below 10°C or above 30°C, at -24 mV/°C for a 12V battery, centred on 25°C.
