FLIR

M500 Cooled Thermal/Vis Camera (30Hz)

432-0012-15-00
Flagship cooled multi-sensor marine thermal camera with a cryogenically cooled 640 x 512 MWIR sensor, 14x continuous optical zoom and gyro-stabilised pan and tilt for ultra long-range detection.

Description

The FLIR M500 is the flagship of the FLIR marine thermal range, built around a cryogenically cooled 640 x 512 mid-wave infrared sensor. The cooled MWIR detector offers roughly double the sensitivity of long-wave thermal cameras and stronger performance through fog and haze, enabling ultra long-range detection and identification at sea. A 14x continuous optical thermal zoom, an HD colour camera with 30x optical zoom, an ultra low-light visible camera and a tight-beam LED spotlight combine to detect and positively identify targets by day or night.

Two-axis internal gyro stabilisation holds a steady image in turbulent seas, and video tracking automatically follows a selected target using either the thermal or visible camera. The M500 offers 360 degree continuous pan with plus or minus 90 degree tilt, radar integration, and analog, HD-SDI and four independent IP video streams. It integrates with chartplotters and multifunction displays from Furuno, Garmin, Raymarine and Simrad. This variant outputs a 30 Hz NTSC video refresh rate.

Why does the M500 use a cooled thermal sensor?
The M500 uses a cryogenically cooled mid-wave infrared sensor, which offers roughly double the image sensitivity of long-wave thermal cameras and performs better through fog and haze. This enables the ultra long-range detection and identification the M500 is built for.
How far can the M500 detect a target?
On the published detection ranges the M500 can detect a 30 foot vessel at up to 38.34 nautical miles and a human-sized target at up to 4.70 nautical miles. Actual range varies with camera setup, environmental conditions and operator experience.
What zoom does the M500 offer?
The M500 features a 14x continuous optical thermal zoom plus 4x digital zoom on the thermal camera, and a separate HD colour camera with 30x optical zoom, for both wide situational awareness and long-range detail.
