Actisense Self-Contained Boat Network - complete network for four devices with internal terminators and power feed.

A2K-SBN-1
The Actisense SBN-1 packs four tee-pieces and built-in termination into a single case, giving a complete, correctly terminated NMEA 2000 network for up to four devices. Connect the 3 metre power cable and it is ready to use, saving space, cabling and weight.

Description

The Self-Contained Boat Network (SBN-1) makes installing a small NMEA 2000 network quicker and easier than ever. It packs the equivalent of four tee-pieces into a single over-moulded case with the termination resistors already built in, so there are no separate tees to chain together and no terminators to add. Once the attached three-metre power cable is connected to the boat supply, a correctly terminated network for up to four devices is ready to use, taking plug and play to the next level.

By providing a complete, correctly terminated network in one compact unit, the SBN-1 takes up far less space than a backbone built from individual tees and drops, and reduces the amount of cabling, connectors, cost and weight. Its ruggedised, flame-retardant housing, metal coupling nuts and integrated EMI shield suit wet and harsh marine conditions, while the orange UL-rated power cable is colour coded to stand out from the drop cables. Note that the SBN-1 cannot be extended beyond four device drops.

Do I need to add termination resistors to the SBN-1?
No. The SBN-1 has both NMEA 2000 termination resistors built into the case, so the network is correctly terminated as supplied. You simply connect the power cable and plug in your devices.
Can the SBN-1 be extended to support more than four devices?
No. The SBN-1 provides a fixed network of four device drops and cannot be expanded. If you need more connections, choose the eight-drop SBN-2 or build a conventional backbone from tees and drops.
How is the SBN-1 powered?
Power is supplied through the attached three-metre orange, UL-rated cable. Connect its colour-coded, pre-stripped and tinned wires to the boat power supply and the network is ready to use.
