B&G WTP3 CPU
Description
The WTP3 CPU is the heart of B&G's Wave Technology Processor 3 system, developed with leading professional racing teams and proven on Volvo Ocean Race winners, America's Cup boats and round-the-world record holders. A powerful embedded-Linux processor calculates and distributes data far faster than conventional instrument systems, using a new architecture in which the central CPU links to distributed data-collection modules over three independent CAN channels. Data is processed in the CPU, which outputs display data, transmits serial and digital data via the interface modules, communicates with Deckman and FTP clients over a 100 Mbit Ethernet LAN, and runs an on-board datalogger for post-sail analysis. Seven diagnostic LEDs on the top of the unit indicate power, Fastnet, the three CAN channels, the datalog and the LAN at a glance. The lightweight, hard-anodised case protects the CPU in the harsh conditions found on a racing yacht, and the whole system is powered from a single 12V DC supply.
