Icom IC-M400BBE Modular VHF/DSC Marine Radio
Description
The Icom IC-M400BBE is a modular 'black box' VHF/DSC marine radio designed for installations where helm space is at a premium. The RF unit mounts out of sight, while all functions, including DSC, are controlled from the HM-195B/SW COMMANDMIC sited up to 18.3 m (60 ft) away at the cockpit or fly bridge. The COMMANDMIC uses the same intuitive soft-key interface found across Icom's marine range, keeping operation straightforward.
Built-in bidirectional active noise cancelling reduces background noise by up to 90% to improve both transmitted and received speech, and a 10 W amplifier drives an external speaker for loud audio, public address and foghorn use. Built-in Class D DSC continuously monitors Channel 70 and meets ITU-R M.493-14, while NMEA 0183 connectivity allows position and DSC data to be shared with a connected GPS or chartplotter. The IC-M400BBE can also be paired with an MA-510TR or MA-500TR Class B AIS transponder for AIS target calling, and both the RF unit and COMMANDMIC carry IPX7 waterproofing. This model has been discontinued.
