Icom IC-M87E Compact/Waterproof VHF PBR/Marine ATEX Radio

The Icom IC-M87E is a compact, waterproof ATEX intrinsically safe VHF radio that works as both a marine transceiver and a simple PMR business radio. It conforms to the ATEX Directive with an approved rating of II 2G Ex ib IIA T3 Gb, making it suitable for hazardous areas on land and at sea such as oil rigs, petroleum tankers and bulk cargo carriers, and a simple button press toggles the operating band between marine and land channels.

Built around a tough one-piece aluminium chassis tested to US military standard MIL-STD 810, the IC-M87E is waterproof to IPX7 and designed to withstand rainstorms, high humidity and rapid temperature changes. A clear backlit LCD and backlit buttons aid recognition in any light, while the standard BP-227AX lithium-ion battery delivers up to 19 hours of operation. It carries 22 programmable channels for PMR use with wide and narrow channel spacing, built-in CTCSS and DTCS signalling and a built-in voice scrambler (version dependent). It must be used with the BP-227AX, and the optional waterproof speaker-microphone HM-138 is an approved accessory for ATEX use. This product is discontinued.
