Description

The Victron Energy 12V 110Ah AGM Deep Cycle is a sealed, maintenance-free VRLA battery built on flat plate Absorbent Glass Mat construction. The electrolyte is held in a glass-fibre mat between the plates, so the battery is spill-proof and can be mounted in any orientation. Its low internal resistance suits applications that draw high currents, such as inverters, bow thrusters and electric winches.

The 110Ah rating is quoted at the 20 hour rate; at the 10 hour rate the usable capacity is 100Ah. Lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials give a self-discharge below 2% per month, so the battery can be stored for extended periods between charges. For long service life Victron recommends limiting discharge depth and recharging promptly with a suitable three or four step charger.

This version is fitted with M8 drilled, flat copper insert terminals for a direct, high-contact connection, making it well suited to permanently installed marine house and service banks.

Why are two capacities, 100Ah and 110Ah, quoted for this battery?
Lead-acid capacity depends on discharge rate. The 110Ah figure is the rated capacity at the 20 hour rate (C20), while 100Ah is the capacity at the faster 10 hour rate (C10). Higher discharge currents reduce the effective capacity further.
What type of terminal does this battery use?
It is fitted with M8 drilled, flat copper insert terminals, which give a direct high-contact connection without the need for separate clamp terminals.
What charge voltages should I use?
Victron specifies an absorption voltage of 14.2 to 14.6V, a float voltage of 13.5 to 13.8V and a storage voltage of 13.2 to 13.5V for a 12V battery, with temperature compensation of -24 mV/°C.
How many charge and discharge cycles can it deliver?
The cycle design life is 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 600 cycles at 50%, and 1500 cycles at 30%. Shallower discharges therefore give a much longer service life.
Does the battery need topping up with water?
No. It is a sealed valve-regulated (VRLA) AGM battery and is maintenance-free for life; gas only escapes through the safety valves in the event of overcharging.
