Description

The Victron Energy 12V 130Ah AGM Deep Cycle is a sealed, maintenance-free VRLA battery using flat plate Absorbent Glass Mat construction. With the electrolyte held in a glass-fibre mat between the plates, the battery is spill-proof and can be installed in any orientation. Its low internal resistance makes it well suited to marine loads that draw high currents, including inverters, bow thrusters and electric winches.

The 130Ah rating is quoted at the 20 hour rate, with 120Ah available at the faster 10 hour rate. Lead-calcium grids and high-purity active materials keep self-discharge below 2% per month, allowing the battery to be left for long periods between charges. As with any lead-acid battery, service life is longest when discharges are kept shallow and the battery is recharged promptly with an appropriate charger.

It is supplied with flat copper terminals and offers 550A cold cranking and 200 minutes reserve capacity, making it a practical choice for house and service banks on cruising and liveaboard vessels.

Why are two capacities, 120Ah and 130Ah, quoted?
Lead-acid capacity depends on discharge rate. The 130Ah figure is the rated capacity at the 20 hour rate (C20), while 120Ah is the capacity at the faster 10 hour rate (C10).
What charge voltages should I use?
Victron specifies an absorption voltage of 14.2 to 14.6V, a float voltage of 13.5 to 13.8V and a storage voltage of 13.2 to 13.5V for a 12V battery, with temperature compensation of -24 mV/°C.
How many charge and discharge cycles can it deliver?
The cycle design life is 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 600 cycles at 50%, and 1500 cycles at 30%. Keeping discharges shallow greatly extends service life.
Does the battery need maintenance?
No. It is a sealed valve-regulated (VRLA) AGM battery and is maintenance-free for life; gas only escapes through the safety valves in the event of overcharging.
Can it be mounted on its side?
Yes. Because the electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat rather than being free liquid, the battery is spill-proof and can be mounted in any orientation except inverted.
