Description

The Victron Energy 12V 240Ah AGM Deep Cycle is the largest battery in the 12V AGM Deep Cycle range, a sealed maintenance-free VRLA unit built on flat plate Absorbent Glass Mat construction. The electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat between the plates, making the battery spill-proof and suitable for mounting in any orientation. Low internal resistance gives strong high-current performance for demanding marine loads such as inverters, bow thrusters and electric winches.

Rated at 240Ah on the 20 hour discharge, it provides substantial reserve for liveaboard and large-vessel house banks. Lead-calcium grids and high-purity active materials keep self-discharge below 2% per month, so the battery tolerates long periods between charges. Service life is maximised by limiting discharge depth and recharging promptly with a suitable three or four step charger.

It is fitted with M8 drilled, flat copper insert terminals for a direct, high-contact connection, well suited to permanently installed banks where heavy cabling is used.

What is the rated capacity of this battery?
It is rated at 240Ah at the 20 hour discharge rate (C20), the largest capacity in the Victron 12V AGM Deep Cycle range.
What type of terminal does this battery use?
It is fitted with M8 drilled, flat copper insert terminals, which give a direct high-contact connection without the need for separate clamp terminals.
What charge voltages should I use?
Victron specifies an absorption voltage of 14.2 to 14.6V, a float voltage of 13.5 to 13.8V and a storage voltage of 13.2 to 13.5V for a 12V battery, with temperature compensation of -24 mV/°C.
How many charge and discharge cycles can it deliver?
The cycle design life is 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge, 600 cycles at 50%, and 1500 cycles at 30%. Keeping discharges shallow greatly extends service life.
Does the battery need maintenance?
No. It is a sealed valve-regulated (VRLA) AGM battery and is maintenance-free for life; gas only escapes through the safety valves in the event of overcharging.
