Description

The Victron 12V/8Ah AGM Deep Cycle battery is a sealed valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery built with absorbent glass mat technology. The electrolyte is held in a glass-fibre mat between the plates, so the battery is maintenance free, can be mounted in almost any orientation, and does not need topping up.

AGM construction gives very low internal resistance, which suits short bursts of high current as well as steady deep-cycle service. At this compact 8Ah size the battery is a practical choice for small onboard electronics, backup supplies, and portable equipment where space and weight are limited.

Lead-calcium grids and high-purity materials keep self-discharge below 2% per month at 20°C, so the battery can be stored for extended periods between charges when kept cool. As with all lead-acid batteries, avoiding repeated deep discharge prolongs service life.

Does this battery need maintenance or topping up?
No. It is a sealed valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) AGM battery and is maintenance free for life. The electrolyte is absorbed in a glass-fibre mat, so there is nothing to top up.
What does the 8Ah rating refer to?
The rated capacity refers to a 20 hour discharge (the C20 rate) at 25°C. Effective capacity falls as the discharge current rises, and falls faster under a constant-power load such as an inverter.
What charge voltages does Victron recommend?
For cyclic use Victron recommends an absorption voltage of 14.2 to 14.6 V, a float voltage of 13.5 to 13.8 V and a storage voltage of 13.2 to 13.5 V for a 12V AGM Deep Cycle battery.
How long can it be stored without charging?
Self-discharge is below 2% per month at 20°C, so the battery can be stored for up to a year without recharging if kept in cool conditions.
