Description

The NGX-1 is Actisense's intelligent dual gateway, combining the capability of the earlier NGT-1 and NGW-1 into one flexible, cost-effective device. Configure it as an NMEA 2000 to PC interface or as a bi-directional NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 conversion gateway, so a single unit covers both jobs.

This ISO version terminates in a bare-wire, open-ended cable for direct connection to an NMEA 0183 device or a serial port / DB-9. Its opto-isolated input and ISO-Drive output safely interface with RS232 or RS422 signals, while data transfers at up to 230,400 baud with support for fast heading at 10Hz. Used as a PC interface, the NGX-1 acts as a rule-enforcing firewall between the computer and the network, giving full control of the data that passes to and from the bus.

Housed in a rugged IP67 polycarbonate case and fully NMEA 2000 certified, the NGX-1 works with the free Actisense NMEA Reader diagnostic software and is configured through Actisense Toolkit. It carries the largest conversion library of any Actisense gateway, including AIS.

What is the difference between the NGX-1-ISO and NGX-1-USB?
Both are the same dual gateway. The NGX-1-ISO has a bare-wire open-ended cable with an opto-isolated input and ISO-Drive output for connecting directly to an NMEA 0183 device or a serial port / DB-9, whereas the NGX-1-USB has a moulded USB cable for plug-and-play connection to a PC or Mac. Choose the ISO version when you need a serial or NMEA 0183 wired connection.
Does the NGX-1 replace the older NGT-1 and NGW-1?
Yes. The NGX-1 combines the functions of both earlier products into one device. It can operate as an NMEA 2000 to PC interface like the NGT-1, or as a bi-directional NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 conversion gateway like the NGW-1, and carries the largest conversion library of any Actisense gateway.
How is the NGX-1 configured?
The NGX-1 is configured using the free Actisense Toolkit software, which lets you switch its operating mode and set the Tx / Rx conversion lists and rates. The free NMEA Reader software can also be used to view and diagnose the data on the network.
